Who are we? Jeff Weaver, Founder/Chief Exectutive Officer and
Jenavia Weaver, Chief Operating Officer. Best Friends Forever! Since June 28, 1990.
Our Vision: To be a custodian of the African culture that develops our children to be strong people and to be strong leaders through the use of the creative arts and community service.
Our Mission: To provide unique opportunities to children of African descent using the arts in a cultural context to bridge the gap between the African American youth of today and our African heritage. We use all of the creative art mediums to convey one consist message of love and pride for our African heritage.
How we implement the R.A.R.E mission
1) R.A.R.E. creatively utilizes the kinesthetic modality to work with children of African descent in the:
A) Literary Arts ( R.A.R.E.'s Literary program - Geniuses, Public Speaking, Manuscript development, Poetry, Rap and theatre)
B) Visual Arts ( Photography, Video production and Graphic Arts) and Musical Arts ( Song writing and production, traditional African drumming and dancing)
C) Female Empowerment Program- The Crowning - Miss Black Genez BlueJeans event where natural and traditional African aesthetics reign. Year round the Black Genez Queens ( BGQ) work to build esteem and community sustaining attributes such as business planning along with giving platform to their building up the natural talents and gifts
2) The "I Have -You Have" Feeding program - Members of R.A.R.E - go to the streets and feed those without shelter. The philosophy is that “if I have - you have too"!
